My Exciting News
I am SOOOOOO excited to post this today. I started this journey in 2015 in the 120 year old farmhouse at my first farm and homestead. I knew so little.

My first few batches were not great. The berries were sour, dusty, dried ones off of Amazon and Ebay. No matter what I did I just couldn’t get them to taste delicious. I experimented with multiple sugars and plant sweeteners. Nothing was really exciting.
Next I tried using fresh berries. That gave me taste, but not quantity. However, since it was for myself I decided to work on taste. During that time I scoured my grandmother’s recipe collection. I found a recipe for blueberry pancake syrup and based my experimental syrup on that. It took another two years to perfect the taste.

Then in 2017 I found a source of fresh juice. Bingo! I started selling my Syrup at our farm stand, festivals, and from the farm. Over the years I’ve built a loyal following.
In 2019 a friend suggested I put it in stores. That began a whole other vector of learning, recipe perfecting, and dreaming.
Today is the day. Today is the day of the very first NATIONALLY available run! My syrup has graduated from that old farmhouse kitchen to a fully Vegan product manufactured in a commercial facility.
If I said my eyes weren’t a little damp writing this I would be lying. This is one of the most exciting things to happen in my life. Not only is my Elderberry Syrup tasty, it is a way for me to continue providing a home for our sanctuary farm animal residents and to expand our educational efforts.
What is Elderberry Syrup?
Elderberry Syrup is the Syrup made from the berries of the Elder tree. Elderberry is high in vitamin C, and antioxidants in the form of phenolic acids, flavonols, and anthocyanins. All of which are associated (but not clinically proven) with boosting the immune system response and lowering adverse symptoms. People have used it for over five thousand years to shorten colds and influenza. It is currently being studied by several pharmaceutical companies, which is the main reason my national launch was delayed by one year. The demand was so high due to pharmaceutical purchases it was next to impossible to secure the best berries.

Elderberry Syrup is traditionally made with honey. However, honey is not vegan and not recomended for very young children. I adjusted my focus to creating a vegan and small child friendly recipe from the traditional Syrup. This change also makes it shelf stable and easy to store unopened long term. I also added spices and lemon juice just to make it brighter and yummy.
While many people take it daily for purported health benefits, I sell mine solely as a food Syrup. I make no claims other than it’s delicious.
